Helping Teens To Eat Healthy Food! (edit/delete)
Many times I get hired to help a family to eat better.So it goes with a family in Westport. The mother called me because her daughter has a lot of stomach issues and they want to find out what is causing her pain.
To be a 15 year old girl and have that much attention called to what you eat and how you feel can really cause more stress than intended.
I love to cook with teens. The more involved they are in cooking the food they eat, seeing how it is made and knowing that they can add the foods they like, they more they become excited about eating healthy.
Once I get to know them and the foods they crave, I create coaching sessions around those types of foods and we find healthy alternatives that the teen will like. I have had great success with this program.
Today I am going to be teaching this young woman how to make a wonderful Kale salad and we are going to make apricot chews so she has something healthy and sweet to eat. For her we are discovering what makes her feel sick and what foods make her feel better.
I know that she will have fun and this will start her on the path to good health for life. What better gift can you give to your family than that of good health?
